Car owners know that maintenance and repairs of their cars can be very expensive.While it is still new repairs and maintenance are not that needed.  But as it ages it will need more care.So let’s talk about the steps we should take to avoid a lot of expenses when we go to an auto shop.

In my auto repair San Diego shop I hear so many stories of people getting ripped off when they take their car to an auto shop.Things like paying for something way over its real price or getting billed for repairs the car doesn’t need happen all the time.  So what can someone do?Maintaining your car in a very good shape is the best thing you can do.  Don’t wait till a problem happens.Keep it in a good condition.

One of the best ways to keep your car in shape is to have regular tune ups. This will prevent any problems from coming up.Your engine will also be running smoothly when you do this.You can avoid expensive repairs if you keep your car tuned up. Not passing the smog test is one the problems caused by not properly tuning up your car.  I have seen older cars in my smog test San Diego shop that if they were taken care of they would have passed the smog test.This will lead to other problems.

Another thing that gets neglected when it comes to our cars are the brakes. A lot of people are surprised by a part of their cars-the brakes.  It surprises them when they see how high the bill is to repair.  Believe me, I see the look on the faces of my customers of my San Diego brakes service when they see how expensive it can be.But if they had just taken care of their they could have avoided thoses expenses.

The main point of all this is the best way to avoid getting ripped off is to take care of your car.Having less problems if a car is regularly maintained is wrong for shops to say.
